Why do I need a consultation?

Consultations allow the stylist to find out more about your lifestyle and expectations to be able to match the right extensions to your hair type and lifestyle, as well as offer you a colour match and answer all your questions about caring for the extensions.

What do I look for when choosing an extensionist?

A.

Take a look at our Find a Stylist to find your local #RCStylist. Before you book in for a consultation have a look at examples of their work on their social media and don’t be afraid to ask questions and check their training and qualifications.   If you are looking at other extension brands, then find look at reviews from customers to see how they found the hair extensions to wear.

I’m going on holiday, why do you not recommend having extensions abroad?

A.

You may be well versed in hair extensions and caring for them in the sun, avoiding the pool and sea salt but what many holiday goers overlook is the water filtration systems abroad where iron and copper minerals are in a higher concentration. So every time you take a shower and wash your hair (even with the Remi Cachet aftercare range) these minerals are drying out your hair and affecting the colour.

Can I buy a gift voucher for your extensions?

A.

First stop would definitely be your local #RCStylist who may be able to offer different packages for hair, application and aftercare. You can also buy vouchers online from Additional Lengths which would allow the bearer to buy the hair and aftercare products.

How do you pick the right colour match for my hair?

A.

You can browse through our colours in our colour chart or head to your nearest #RCStylist to look at our colour ring for yourself.   You can use these colour rings as a guide to see how that colour would work for you. The extensionist will be able to offer some helpful advise on colour for you; but if you are struggling we offer a colour match service. Simply email in a photograph of your hair in good light approx. 1m away from the camera – an image from the side and back to be able to give you our best suggestions.

Our three different sources of hair offer different hair textures which the stylist will match to your own hair. As a rule of thumb, our Prestige range of Indian hair has a similar texture to European hair in terms of natural wave and texture. The Russian-Mongolian mix in our Elegance range is a perfect match for those with fine straight hair whilst those needing poker straight opt for the Chinese Luxury range.   Read more in our blog.

How do I choose the right type of extensions?

A.

Your #RCStylist will help you with this during your consultation.   Questions about your lifestyle and how you want to care and wear you hair will help guide this. For example first time wearers of extension might prefer to try Clip Ins or Tape extensions before committing to a more permanent method.

Can I colour my hair extensions?

A.

We cannot take responsibility for hair that is coloured or altered after purchase.   We would always recommend using a professional hairdresser for colouring or perming services; ask your #RCStylist for more information.

How do you remove the extensions?

A.

This is a professional service and we would recommend returning to your original #RCStylist for this service. Removal depends on the application method and some such as our Flat Bonds (Hot or Cold Fusion application) require removal with a specific Remi Cachet removal gel. Professional removal of your extensions ensures that the removal process is gentle with no damage to your own hair.

How long will the extensions last?

A.

This will depend on the type of extensions you have chosen and how good your aftercare is.   For example, our Luxury Tape extensions have the shortest life span at around 12 weeks, but further tabs can be purchased to re-apply the hair.   Our Prestige Range of Ultra Tips™ will last up to 9 months although our #RCStylist often share with us clients who are still enjoying their hair after a year with a good aftercare regime.

Why is your brush good for extensions?

A.

Our Ultra Tangle Tamer brush is made by leading brush manufacturer Denman.   The large paddle brush is perfect for de-tangling longer hair but most importantly for extension wearers, the nylon bristles glide over the bond areas without causing damage.

Why do I need to buy your aftercare products?

A.

Our aftercare range has been tested on all our hair types and different bonds types so we know that it not only protects and nourishes the hair but also will not cause deterioration of the bond.   We cannot guarantee our hair and bonds with other brands.

We offer three different hair qualities from different sources. Our
Prestige range is from India, Elegance range is from Southern Russia & Mongolia; and our Luxury range is from China. We have spent a considerable amount of time sourcing the very best quality & reliable source of hair for production and to see more for yourselves have a look at our hair.

We source our hair ethically and pay a fair price for the hair from each source. The hair is sourced from donors legitimately and processed with great care to ensure the very best quality.

How do you care for your hair extensions?

Taking care of your hair extensions is essential to keep your hair in great condition for you to show it off and so that they can last longer too.

The care instructions vary a little between the different application methods so ask your #RCStylist for specific for your extension type and essential tips for your lifestyle. We also recommend returning to your extensionist for regular maintenance checks where they can reposition your extensions if necessary and also give you further advice to improve your care.
