Smashing Salon International

Well last weekend was a blast.   As always Salon International allows us to see all our fabulous hairy friends and put some faces to the names on new Trade Accounts.

So what did you think to the new-look stand? This was the one that has been to Dubai and Orlando this year and it’s a little bit different for us not to be taking lots of stock for you to buy, but I hope you appreciated the discount code instead so you could shop till you drop without having to carry the bag around all day too.

The two hair walls were the main draw and we loved our educator, Phil Tappings’s ‘No Blow’ creation on Amy showing how you can create uber volume with extensions.

No Blow effect by Remi Cachet hair"To create Amy's NO BLOW look we tonged the hair and set into pin curls to cool, before unravelling and teasing a litte for even more volume.   This demonstrates how easy it is to style your hair extensions for uber volume." The deck chair was a winner! Not only did we get half the staff from other stands over to take a well-earned break, we have seen so many great snaps on social of visitors with #selfies.   Our #RCGiveaway for goody bags each day has been won by Hot Locks Hair Extensions, Bliss Hair Design and Aysa Cannur of Hair by Asya. Their treats have already been posted out!

We were honoured to have Teresa Giudice join us form The Real Housewives of New Jersey.   She arrived on Friday and Vicky set to applying a new set of Ultra Tips on her – going slightly blonder than last time.   She had a great time visiting the best London attractions on Saturday and then meeting the team for cocktails at the famous Sketch London.

Using Ultra Tips® in colours 6, 8/613 and some 16/24 to lift the top highlights a little more; we think the overall colour blend worked really well.

Teresa joined our stage on Sunday for a meet and greet with fans before assisting Vicky on the HJ Stage to announce the winners of the competition.

Our third year of this competition we specifically asked entrants to push the creative boundaries with extensions. We had a record number of entries and founder Victoria Lynch whittled them down to just ten finalists at the beginning of September based on application and the finished look.

Hair Extension JudgesThe judging team this year included last year’s winner Roberto Silva, Inanch Emir of Gold Class Hair and Louise Bailey of Extension Professional; joining Victoria.   Having briefed the judges in the criteria looking at ten individual elements ranging from sectioning, placement application, the cut, styling and client suitability; they set to examining the work against their entry image.   Getting together at the end to total the scores, there was only a couple of points between the top places showing just how good the standard was this year.

The winner Helen Richardson of The Butterfly Effect in Louth, was shocked to be announced, but her neat application won over the judges with all four scoring over 40 points (out of 50).   Runner up Rowan Milne of Row 66 in Edinburgh, also excelling in her ‘perfect’ application.

“We are proud of how the competition has developed and grown. We never wanted the competition to be about Remi Cachet hair and this year there was a great balance of application methods and brand represented.   Having four different judges with different brands and experience really added to justify the results as we were all looking for the best application to support the end look.“ Victoria Lynch.

“We have plans to tweak it a little more next year to encourage more creativity and will shortly opened up the final looks to a public vote on social media, which will be a first.”

As an added surprise, whilst presenting the award, Victoria was hijacked and presented with flowers from Louise Bailey and International Educator Abigail Nicholls for recognition of her contribution to the industry for showcasing good extension work. “We just wanted to do something as we know how much effort Victoria puts in behind the scenes to ensure excellence in hair extensions regardless of brand and not only with this competition.“

What a weekend and you can see our images in this photo album.  We will, of course, be back next year!
