FAQ's
Where does your hair come from?
Our hair is sourced from our trusted suppliers and partners in and around China. Hair donations are quality checked and graded according to hair health and density and donors are paid directly. We prioritise ethical hair sourcing and the health of each donation above the perceived notion that a country of origin denotes hair quality.
Why aren’t you describing the country of origin for your hair anymore?
We prioritise ethical hair sourcing and the health of each donation above the perceived notion that a country of origin denotes hair quality. We see a lot of narrative online that associates hair quality with a certain country of origin, and as experts in the hair trade, with 30+ years experience, we know that there are so many more factors involved in denoting hair quality. We want to help educate so that our stylists are giving the right information to their clients. Hair quality from a single location of donors can differ wildly, and regardless of location, we only purchase the best.
Is the hair sourced from the same region for all ranges?
Once our hair is sourced by our trusted suppliers and partners, it is quality-checked and graded according to hair health and density. This grading denotes which range it is developed for, Elegance, Deluxe or Luxury. Grading is down to the individual bundle’s hair health rather than origin. Hair is sourced from a large geographic area, at present from in and around China but we are always exploring new sources that comply with our ethical practice.
Why don’t you use synthetic hair?
Synthetic hair can be a good option for those trying extensions for the first time or for single use. We don’t produce synthetic hair because our customers generally do not find that they are a pleasure to wear, stylists do not enjoy fitting them, they don’t enable them to do their best work, tools can so easily singe and ruin synthetic hair and lastly, and a biggie, they are not environmentally friendly. Our aim is to provide the highest quality of hair that lasts and therefore we don’t sell or use synthetic hair.
Why are they called donors if they are paid?
All hair we use for Remi Cachet is paid for by those choosing to sell it. ‘Donor’ and ‘donate’ is an industry term and we agree, it does imply that they are donating their hair free of charge. In some parts of the world, donors do give their hair free of charge for religious beliefs. At Remi Cachet, we believe in ethical sourcing and only trade with a supply chain where donors are paid directly for their hair, always at or above market rate. Our donors choose between a hair thinning or cutting service which gives them a shorter style. Their heads are not shaved.
Which hair extensions are best for me?
Determining which hair extensions are best for you is done in your hair extension consultation. In your hair extension consultation with your qualified stylist, they will assess various aspects of your hair. This includes but is not limited to your hair length, hair quality and type, colour and density. By doing this your stylist will be able to determine which hair extensions are best for you.
What is Remy hair?
Remy hair is considered the most desirable choice for hair extensions, wigs, and human hairpieces. It's made from hair that's been collected from a human donor and processed minimally to ensure it's soft, silky, and tangle-free. The hair is sorted with the root and tip travelling in the same direction to ensure the cuticles are kept intact and aligned in the same direction.
