“Why Are My Client’s Tapes Slipping?”
If you are finding that your clients are coming to you about their tapes slipping and don’t know where to start, we are here to help. At Remi Cachet we have highlighted three main examples that can be the cause of this and some advice on how you can prevent this from happening…
1.) Application Issues
Our first recommendation is to review the application of the tapes and ensure that the correct steps have been taken to complete this stage. For example, ensure that for all applications the hair is cleansed properly prior. Our advice is to always use our Remi Cachet Pre Application Shampoo which is a clarifying product to remove any excess residue or oils on your client’s hair. This will result in the tape tabs fusing to clean hair and significantly reducing the likelihood of the tapes slipping.

Some of our other tips include making sure you firmly seal the tabs together which can be done using our Tape Hair Pliers to apply additional pressure for an extra grip. We also advise you to ensure that the tape has acclimated to the correct temperature before application. Making sure that the tape has been at an optimum temperature of 18°C to 22°C for at least 24 hours contributes to the performance of the application and decreases the risk of them slipping.

2.) Hair & Scalp Quality
Tape Hair extensions are great for a variety of hair types, whether your client's hair is thick or fine, this hair extension type has the potential to be great for them. However, there can be a risk of the extensions slipping if one of these two things (or both) are relevant to your client; super fine hair and naturally oily scalp/hair.
As highlighted, Tape Hair extensions are a perfect choice for those clients who have fine hair as each piece can be easily concealed by natural hair. However, problems can arise when your client's hair is “super fine”. This relates back to “Application” as in this situation we advise the tape hair extensions are applied using the Single Sided Tape Tabs as opposed to using the “Double Sided” where the fit on “super fine” hair may not be as secure.

If your client has a naturally oily scalp or hair, this can be a significant reason why their tapes are slipping as they are unable to hold as long. Therefore, we recommend that for these clients, you offer maintenance appointments sooner as well as ensuring you use our Pre-Application Shampoo before application and always advise them to use our recommended aftercare products…
3.) Aftercare Issues
Ensuring your clients are using our recommended aftercare products is a big factor that can prevent their tapes from slipping prematurely. For example, if your client is experiencing excess product build-up in their hair and scalp this can break down the tape adhesive quicker, therefore, it is extremely important to advise them to use the correct aftercare. An example of one of our aftercare products is the Remi Cachet Hair Extension Shampoo which gently cleanses away impurities to remove buildup, whilst leaving the hair feeling revitalised, hydrated and healthy.
Overall, correct aftercare is essential to maintain the quality of your clients hair extensions and to help prolong their life. If you fail to give or your clients fail to follow the correct aftercare advice this can cause damage to the hair extensions and decrease their lifespan which includes the risk of the tapes slipping.
